For this project, the first thought that came to my mind was Black Mirror Bandersnatch. The special, which utilized a choose your own adventure feature that allowed the audience to make choices for how the story progresses, featured imagery related to the branches and paths of the fictional story the main character was writing. I feel that organizing the structure of this project based on a series of choices, with different paths for each choice and a separation of the plotline at each choice would be ideal. Ultimately, I would hope to have a different ending for every choice, however that may change based on deadlines. Currently, the leading idea I have for this project is to have it be something of a horror story, with the main character being chased by a monster through some sort of confined space, such as a sewer system, an abandoned building, or an empty house. I am thinking about having each choice the player makes be an attempt to escape, with choices given through rooms in the setting. As they’re running past the monster, perhaps they come to the bathroom, and have to choose between jumping out the window or hiding in the bathtub, and each choice carries a risk of death or other developments. Ultimately, I aim to structure the “good” ending as escaping the building, and the “bad” endings as making the wrong choice and dying to the creature. In order to make the story more compelling, I aim to have different death scenes depending on when and where the player dies, connecting how they die to the wrong choice they make.
